Whilst having a break from teaching, to have 2 children, Janet worked at Cherry Willingham and then Skellingthorpe Youth Clubs. At Skellingthorpe she was part of a committee that planned, organised and fund raised to build a new Youth Club behind the Community Centre in the village. Whilst at home with 2 small children Janet helped to set up the Kettlethorpe ‘Mums and toddlers’ group and Kettlethorpe Playgroup which she then ran for 3 years.

Janet returned to teaching 1986. She became the deputy and then took the National Qualification for Headship before taking on the role as Head teacher

Taking part in and volunteering has also been a large part of Janet’s life. She has worked as a coach in a number of sports in local community clubs. This eventually led to her taking on the role of Chair for Lincolnshire Volleyball and becoming the National Development Director for Volleyball England as 2 of a long list of roles she does as a volunteer within volleyball.

Whilst taking a break from teaching Janet worked as a self employed coach delivering volleyball in primary schools across the county. Whist doing this she was recruited by Volleyball England to help write their Whole Sport Plan for the 4 years 2005 -09. She remained with Volleyball England for 18 months to ensure the plan was embedded in the association. During the past 10 years Janet has been a non-Executive Director at a number of organisations including the Sports Partnership, Volleyball England and more recently the Lincoln City Football and Education Trust and YaSiG, a charity for young people based in Gainsborough. When she finished working at Volleyball England she took up her post as Head of Sport at the Lincolnshire Sports Partnership where she have been ever since.

Janet is now Chief Executive of Lincolnshire Sports Partnership, having taken over from Steve De Wint on 1st July 2010.
