Information: Barrie has spent over 25 years at Chief Executive and Managing Director level within a range of service industries, during which time he has gained a reputation for developing new opportunities and driving business forward.

A former Plc Group Chief Executive of Leicester City Football Club, from 1990 to 2000, he was responsible for a turnover growth from £2m (loss-making) to £24m within an 8-year period (and profitable), he has overseen a stock market flotation raising £12m, designed and project managed a new stadium development, created new subsidiary companies, capitalising on business mainstream activities and was responsible for a workforce of over 600 people at Leicester City.

Barrie was Chief Executive of Portsmouth Football Club throughout 2000 on a one-year contract, following that he became Chief Executive of Bradford City Football Club in 2001, again on a one-year contract. In 2002 he purchased an ailing but established advertising, marketing and PR agency and turned it around increasing the offer to supply the sports, leisure, local authority, catering, retail, education and associated sectors. Barrie achieved the ‘Investors in People’ award in 2004 for the business, and increased the turnover and agency billings within 12 months to £3m (from £1m).

Barrie moved to Lincolnshire in early 2008 and now runs his own professional consultancy bp Management and Marketing Services, providing business support in marketing, sales, business development, PR, executive resourcing and personnel solutions to a wide range of small to medium sized clients who need professional advice, guidance, direction, one-to-one hand-holding and want to overcome the challenges they face as their business grows.He is currently a Business Champion for the East Midlands.

Barrie was named DHL UK Boss of the Year in 1998, a Winner of the Ernst & Young’s Turnaround Entrepreneur of the Year Award 1999 for the Central Region, and a finalist in the Leicestershire Business Personality of the Year Award 2005, and has been involved with a wide range of organisations.
