Lincolnshire's Sport Unlimited project, part of Sport England’s 5 hour offer has been granted the Inspire Mark, the badge of the London 2012 Inspire Programme.
Sport Unlimited is a three year programme that offers young people 10-week taster sessions in sports which they have requested and aims to get 300,000 participants to join clubs and continue with sport when the 10 weeks are up.
Part of the “5 hour offer”, Sport Unlimited is one of the workstrands emerging from the additional £100m announced in July 2007 to give every young person (age between 5-19) the chance to do five hours of sport per week.
For the final year of the programme which runs from April 2010 to March 2011, Lincolnshire Sports Partnership received £216,800 from Sport England with a target to engage 6412 young people in 10 weeks of sport.
This money has now been allocated to 100 different projects over the year targeting a total of 9443 young people across Lincolnshire to engage in sport within their local community.
