Keeping Kids Healthy

E-mail Print PDF

Free courses are being offered across Lincolnshire to help children get fitter, lose weight and lead healthier lives.

‘Fit Kids’, a project run by Lincolnshire Sports Partnership and funded by NHS Lincolnshire, is aimed at 8 – 11 year olds and their families who want to lose weight, get fit and have fun.

Free 12-week courses are being run in venues across Lincolnshire, and the sessions include healthy eating as well as fun and games. The emphasis for the courses is having fun; families learning through play and interaction. Family support is essential, so a parent or adult must come along.

Sarah Ferneyhough is the Physical Activity Manager at Lincolnshire Sports Partnership, and is co-coordinating the project. She said:

“Over 500 children have taken part in the programme since it started last year. We have found that children gain confidence and they always come back for more. With a better understanding of healthy living as well as endless games they learn, the clubs have a long lasting impact on some families, the changes are incredible.”
