Grantham Girls shine at Burton

Two Grantham Table Tennis players travelled to the Burton Uxbridge 2 Star Tournament and came away winning titles with battling performances.

First in the Junior Girls was Grantham’s Spartan’s player Emily Roys.  Emily went into her last match knowing that anything other than a win would see her finish in second place.  The match went all the way to the fifth set with Emily fighting for each point and eventually coming out on top to take the title.

In the Under 13 Girls event, LEAP Athlete and Grantham Tornadoes player Hannah Noutch came through her group and semi finals to set up a final match against an opponent who beat her earlier in the day.  Hannah fought hard to avenge her earlier defeat and came away winning in 3 straight sets with a dominant performance.

Hannah also entered the Cadet Girls category where she got as far as the Semi-finals.  Hannah’s win was following on from the good form she has shown at the Westfield 2 Star Tournament where she won the Junior Girls Banded event and was runner up in the Cadet Girls.

The Tournament was the first of three in a Grand Prix Series and both girls will be battling for the overall title.
