A new Children's Play Policy for Lincolnshire was launched
in 2006.
Up to 200 primary school children attended the event which
saw the launch of the County Play Policy 'Making Play Matter
in Lincolnshire', which will ensure children receive the very
best in play activity and development.
The policy supports local strategic plans to underpin children's
play policies across Lincolnshire for the period 2006-2009.
This is a requirement of many funding organisations, including
the Big Lottery Fund.
The policy was the culmination of a three-year comprehensive
review of play by the County Council, on behalf of a range
of play providers in the public and voluntary sectors.
'Making Play Matter in Lincolnshire' is first and foremost
a County wide Play policy and has been prepared with the strategic
importance of underpinning each of the pending district wide
Play strategies, whilst setting out a number of shared values,
principles and actions to ensure that play develops in a uniform
way across Lincolnshire. It is also available in a young person's
version prepared by youngsters from the Boston Youth Council.
Organisations contributing to the partnership are:
- All local authorities in Lincolnshire
- Lincolnshire Youth Cabinet
- Children's Links
- Lincolnshire Playing Fields Association
- East Lincolnshire Primary Care Trust
- Community Council of Lincolnshire
- Lincolnshire Sports Partnership
