MEP Gives Sports Zone Seal of Approval

Basking in the rays, the Lincolnshire Sports Partnership hosted the events largest Sports Zone, engaging with over 9 National Governing Body Sports the Zone provided an excellent ‘come and try it’ opportunity for children and adults alike.

The English Cricket Board’s ‘Cricket Factory’ provided one of the biggest attractions in the Zone. The interactive rig invited visitors to take part in cricket challenges focused around the key fundamental skills of catching, throwing and batting. Arran Brindle former England Captain was also on hand to offer tips to cricket enthusiasts.

However if Cricket was not your sport, the Zone had much more to offer. David Overton England U16 Hockey Goal Keeper and a member of Lincolnshire’s Elite Athlete Program offered visitors the opportunity to try Hockey, and Gladiator’s Enigma aka Lincoln’s Jenny Pacey set some of the Zones best sporting records in Cycling, Rowing, Golf and Table Tennis.

In particular the Sports Zone was pleased to welcome the East Midlands new Member of European Parliament Emma Mclarkin.
A sport enthusiast Emma spent some time watching visitors enjoy the ‘come and try it’ activities on offer:

“I was super impressed by the Sports Zone at the Lincolnshire Show. The Lincolnshire Sports Partnership has done a great job with its partners in putting all the exhibitors together. All the kids were enjoying trying out the different sports on offer - I even tried a few out myself!”

“It’s so important that we enthuse kids and adults alike about getting into sports and keeping fit and healthy. The Sports Zone has done a great job in introducing people to what’s on offer in Lincolnshire. And it’s great to see that there is so much on offer!”
