 Lincolnshire PAN Disability Festival 2008

This Sunday, Carres Grammar School, Sleaford plays host to the annual PAN disability festival.

22 teams from around East Midlands will be taking part in a full day of football games to finish the 2007/2008 season. Over this season each County FA has hosted a day of football games specific to the needs of the players.

The FA has funded the regional league for three years and the tournament has gone from strength to strength.

This weekend’s festival is split into four bandings which fits player’s abilities

Premiership Level - players able to cope physically, good levels of spatial awareness, excellent ability to understand tactics and good level of physical strength and fitness.

Championship Level - players would be mobile, have spatial and tactical awareness, knowledge of the laws of the game and have a good level of fitness.

League Level - 5-a-side, players would have limited mobility, spatial awareness and fitness.

Under 16 – all players under 16

Lincolnshire is represented with teams from Lincoln City FC, Horncastle FC, West Marsh Tigers and Lincoln Mental Health Unit.

The festival also boasts 7 referees, specialised in delivering disability football. These Young leaders have been chosen to attend the FA young Leaders Camp for their leadership ability and one of these referees aged just 16 has been nominated to referee at the Wheelchair Football National League.

I hope you join me in wishing all teams the best of luck.
