Badminton is one of the fastest racket sports and is popular
because it can be played at any level, by people of any age.
Divided into single games of 2 players or double games of
4 players, the opponents take positions on opposite halves
of a rectangular court that is divided by a net. Players score
points by striking a shuttlecock with their racquet so it
passes over the net and lands in their opponents half of the
court. A rally ends once the shuttle has struck the ground.
League competitions tend to be played from September (start
of season) through to May (end of season.) However; badminton
can be played socially at anytime of the year either in sports
halls & leisure centres on a marked court, or recreationally
in a garden.
A technical sport, playing badminton improves fitness levels
& stamina, whilst also developing key skills in agility,
balance, & hand eye coordination.
