What is Cricket?

Cricket is a bat and ball sport contested by two teams, usually of eleven players each. A team sport played by men, women, & juniors, cricket draws on motor skills, and hand eye co ordination.

The game that is played predominantly in the summer season is popular around the world. The game is played on a grass field, roughly oval in shape, with a flat cricket pitch of 20 metres.

Wooden wickets are placed at each end of the pitch, a bowler from the fielding team will bowl a fast ball towards the wicket, the batsman from the opposing team has to defend the wicket by hitting the ball with a wooden cricket bat. The aim is for the batsman to score as many runs (exchange of ends) as possible before the fielding team returns the ball. The match is won by the team that scores the most runs.

Kwik Cricket is a high speed adaption of cricket, frequently played in schools with a plastic bat and ball. Kwik cricket is aimed at encouraging children to take part in the sport.
