What is Hockey

Hockey is a game played widely across the world, by men, women & juniors. It is a game that is fun to play and has the ability to be simplified to encourage young people to get involved from an early age. Participants range from the under 11yrs playing the popular Mini Hockey Game to international level competitors.

The game is played eleven a side, with teams made up of Defenders, Midfielders, Attackers, and a Goalkeeper. Played on a pitch 91 metres x 55 meters, each player has a stick with a rounded head to play the ball. The ultimate aim is to score goals by putting the ball in the other team’s goal.

What are our aims?

It is the aim of the Lincolnshire Sports Partnership Staff to encourage the transition of young hockey players from school arenas in to local clubs and teams. The clubs and coaches involved in this process are developing ever more through continued investment in areas of training, research and funding. The evolution of talent identification schemes and talent training camps should ensure the production of talented individuals and maximize their potential.
