In every month leading up to London 2012 we will feature one athlete from Lincolnshire who has represented Great Britain at the Games or is destined to in the future.
This month we spoke to GB Seated Discuss athlete and 2011 Lincolnshire Disabled Sportsperson of the Year, Kieran Tscherniawsky.
Tell us about your experiences of the Olympic and Paralympic Games?
To have a possible chance of going to the Paralympics is something I have always dreamed of and worked for. It means a lot of hard work but I love to be in the gym in the winter months and I love to be throwing. This means the world to me, being disabled has not stopped me getting to become an elite athlete, now I want to get to the top. To win at the Paralympics is my aim and to be selected is a great achievement, one step at a time!
What does having the Olympic and Paralympic Games in London mean to you?
To have the Paralympics in our own country is great, it gives all are family and friends the chance to support us and put us on the map. How great it will be? We know our country, we will be in our own surroundings. And we know our weather! Yes London, here we come!
What do you hope the legacy will be for your sport after 2012?
To hopefully let the CP and all the other kids out there know that being disabled does not mean we cannot achieve. Get out there and do your sport. It keeps you healthy and make sure you enjoy it because i can guarantee you will!
What do you hope the legacy for Lincolnshire will be after 2012?
We have had some great sports people in Lincolnshire in the past and will continue to have them. We are up there now and are not going to stop there with some of the best athletes in the country.
