Mininum Standards of Deployment

The minimum standards of deployment is one way that Sports Coach UK is working with partners to increase the professionalism of coaches and coaching. Coach employers may add extra standards but the core standards are as follows:

• Hold a National Governing Body Level 1 coaching certificate, and be over 16 years of age, to be an assistant coach
• Hold a National Governing Body Level 2 coaching certificate, and be over 18 years of age, to be a lead coach
• Having insurance that covers the coach for the duties to be undertaken,
• Having an enhanced CRB disclosure
• Signing to a agree to a policies and procedures
  • Code of conduct
  • Equality
  • Participant welfare
  • Health and safety

Additional standards could be:

• Attending Coach Continuous Professional Development training and courses (for example Sports Coach UK ‘Equity in your coaching’
• Supplying two references, one coaching and one personal
• Experience of coaching; either generally or a specific target group
