Funding for the County Inclusion Project was received from Lincolnshire NHS and Sport England Community Investment Fund with in-kind contributions from Districts Councils.
New Age Kurling was selected as the main sport because it can include people with and without a disabled of all ages regardless of ability. New Age Kurling is a form of the original curling game, but adapted so that it can be played indoors on any smooth, flat surface, such as sports halls rather than on ice.
Played with even teams of one to four players, the aim of the game is to push the rubber Kurling stone as near to the centre of the vinyl target as possible. Points are scored depending on which teams stone/stones are nearest to middle.
All 7 District Councils have each received Kurling and New Age Bowls equipment and have been loaning it out to clubs until they are in a position to purchase their own. This has been extremely successful with demand increasing and some Districts having waiting lists.
The biggest growth has come from those over the age of 45 yrs with the Counties +45 Activators developing and supporting the newly formed groups and clubs.
