Introduction

Lincolnshire Federation of Equality Sport (LFES) is a community based group of volunteers campaigning to effect change in the mainstream programmes in physical activity and sport across Lincolnshire.

Since LFES inception in 2008, the Management Committee and its members have made new links with Lincolnshire Sports Partnership (SP). This has helped LSP to attract new resources for special initiatives to encourage more disabled people to become involved in grassroots sport and physical activity programme.

Whilst this and other developments made by LFES so far has started to create new opportunities unfortunately key obstacles remain for ensuring the participation of the disadvantaged and underrepresented groups in the field of physical activity and sport in Lincolnshire is genuinely possible at all levels.

LFES current priorities:

1. Recruitment of representatives on LFES from the wider community groups and support agencies e.g. gay, lesbian, young people from low income groups, anti discrimination legal practitioner, business development professionals etc.
2. Formalisation of our link with key service deliverers in sport and physical activity through a partnership agreement.
3. Organising Lincolnshire’s first conference on ‘Inclusion in Sport’.
